In the fifty years since buying our first Line One cattle, Holden Herefords have purchased and used many top herd sires from the Miles City Station. We have also exchange and purchased top herd sires with Cooper Herefords and each year have selected the top herd sire prospects from within our own herd. At Holden Herefords, we have stayed with a strong performance line-breeding program to enhance the predictability of our cattle for our customers. Line-breeding can only succeed if you continue to add cattle with superior genetics into the program. We only use bulls with above average traits to maintain this. The advantage of this program is the predictability it provides, and also the hybrid vigor that can be generated by an outcross within the breed or between breeds. Each year we offer bulls in our Annual Production Sale with loads of bred-in performance that will be consistently passed on to their progeny.
